Windows 10 - Running Malwarebytes to check for Viruses

'Malwarebytes Anti-Malware' is a program that scans your computer and finds viruses that the normal virus checkers don't even look for.

'Running is the name given to the process where a software program is started on your home computer.

All 'Clicks' will be using the left mouse button or left keypad button unless I say 'Right-click' which will mean the right mouse button or right keypad button or 'Double-Click' which means clicking the left mouse button or the left keypad button twice in fairly quick succession.

1) Double-click on the malwarebytes icon on your desktop to start the program

2) The next screen is asking you for permission to start the program. Click on the 'Yes' button to proceed.

3) This is the start screen for Malwarebytes. To start the scanning process, click on the 'Scan Now' button.

4) The first thing that Malwarebytes does is to check for any updates for to its virus database. There is no need to do anything, the program will automatically move to the next step.

5) After the update step, the program will continue to check all the files on the computer for viruses. This can take some time if you have a lot of files.  The program's progress will be shown in green at the top of the window.  A count of any viruses found will be shown next to the text 'Detected Objects'.

6) When the program has finished scanning it will show the number of viruses found (if any). To get rid of the viruses, make sure that they all have ticks next to the names then click on the 'Remove Selected' button.

7) When the program has got rid of the viruses, it has to get the computer to restart to finish the job. Click on the 'Yes' button and the computer will shut down and restart on its own.

8) When the computer restarts the viruses will be kaput.
